Biển Mân Thái có độ dốc thoải dần, cát trắng mịn, nước trong xanh; có phong cảnh đẹp, với núi Sơn Trà ở phía Bắc nhô sâu ra biển tạo thành vòng cánh cung ôm lấy biển; phía Nam là cụm núi Ngũ Hành Sơn; nhìn ra ngoài khơi là Cù Lam Chàm của tỉnh Quảng Nam.
1. Lịch sử hình thành
Xưa kia, Mân Thái là một rẻo đất nhỏ toàn là cát trắng bên sông bên biển, là địa bàn thuộc Khu Đông Sông Đà và Quận III trước đây. Hiện nay, phường Mân Thái ở phía Đông của thành phố, là một trong 7 phường và nằm về phía Đông Bắc của quận Sơn Trà. Với diện tích tự nhiên 106.5 ha, nằm chính giữa 2 trục đường lớn là đường Ngô Quyền và đường Hoàng Sa, phía Đông giáp với biển Đông, phía Bắc giáp với phường Thọ Quang, phía Đông Nam giáp phường Phước Mỹ, phía Tây Nam giáp với phường An Hải Bắc, phía Tây giáp với phường Nại Hiên Đông, là địa bàn khá thuận lợi trong phát triển kinh tế, văn hóa - xã hội. Dân số hiện nay của phường Mân Thái là 4.141 hộ với 19.028 nhân khẩu, gồm 15 khu dân cư và 62 tổ dân phố.

Với vị trí địa lý “trước biển, sau sông”, Mân Thái hội đủ các điều kiện về phát triển kinh tế giao thương và kinh tế biển. Cảng Đà Nẵng là nơi tàu bè neo đậu tránh bão của bà con ngư dân, lại cũng là nơi “ăn hàng” tàu bè giao thương của các nước. Chính vì vậy, từ khi thiết lập đô hộ trên đất nước ta, thực dân Pháp đã biến cảng Đà Nẵng thành một thương cảng lớn nhất Trung Kỳ. Vì thế, trước năm 1975, Mỹ - nguỵ cũng đã thiết lập tại Mân Thái một căn cứ huấn luyện biệt kích “người nhái” … nhằm phục vụ cho âm mưu đột kích đánh phá miền Bắc.
Mân Thái mang đặc điểm khí hậu gió mùa vùng Duyên hải miền Trung. Thời tiết chia làm hai mùa rõ rệt: mùa khô từ tháng 2 đến tháng 8 trong năm và mùa mưa từ tháng 9 đến tháng 2 dương lịch năm sau; lượng mưa trung bình hằng năm khoảng trên 2.000 mm, trong đó tập trung chủ yếu vào mùa mưa. Trong mùa mưa thường xuất hiện gió mùa Đông Bắc, trong khi mùa khô thường xuất hiện gió Tây Nam. Nhiệt độ trung bình trong năm là 28℃, độ ẩm trung bình 83%. Về mùa khô, nhờ ảnh hưởng của biển Đông, khí hậu hiền hoà, thuận lợi cho các hoạt động tắm biển, nghỉ dưỡng.
Mân Thái là một trong những làng biển lâu đời của Đà Nẵng, khi đô thị hoá, những con đường lớn được mở ra, bãi biển dành phần nhiều cho du lịch thì số người gắn bó với nghề làm biển cũng ít dần đi. Dù vậy, một số ít người dân Mân Thái vẫn gắn bó với nghề. Nhiều thế hệ người con Mân Thái vẫn không bao giờ quên gốc tích của mình là một ngôi làng làm biển. Chính vì thế, để góp phần kế thừa, phát huy và tôn vinh làng nghề truyền thống, đường tranh Bích hoạ phường Mân Thái được triển khai thực hiện tại các kiệt, hẻm liền kề khu vực Lăng Ông, thuộc tổ 12 phường Mân Thái với chiều dài gần 400 mét, diện tích hơn 1.200m² và tổng trị giá 600 triệu đồng. Với chủ đề “Câu chuyện làng chài”, mỗi bức họa đủ sắc màu đã khắc họa một cách sinh động nét đẹp văn hóa, sinh hoạt đời thường, cuộc sống mưu sinh của người dân ven biển Sơn Trà, không chỉ làm đẹp cho con hẻm nhỏ mà còn là sự khởi đầu cho mô hình du lịch cộng đồng, mời gọi du khách thập phương đến để nghe về câu chuyện làng chài.

Man Thai was formerly a region in the East Song Da area and District III, a little sliver of land with white sand by the river and the sea. Currently, Man Thai, one of 7 wards of Son Tra district, is located in the northeast of Son Tra district and in the east of Da Nang city. With a natural area of 106.5 hectares, located in the middle of two major roads, Ngo Quyen and Hoang Sa, the East borders the East Sea, the North borders Tho Quang wards, the Southeast borders Phuoc My wards, the Southwest borders bordering An Hai Bac ward, the West borders Nai Hien Dong ward, Man Thai ward is an area quite favorable in economic, cultural and social development. The current population of Man Thai ward is 4,141 households with 19,028 people, including 15 residential areas and 62 residential groups.

In the past, the land belonging to Man Thai is now a strategic military position. Therefore, from the Nguyen lords to the later Nguyen kings, the area "Da Nang mandarin" was always organized to defend quite closely by the court. In addition to fortresses on Son Tra mountain such as " Duong Tu Bao town" (now in Tho Quang ward), the Nguyen kings also established in Man Quang village (including Co Man later) a very powerful naval fortress. This was recorded by Nguyen Dynasty historians as follows: "In the northeast of Da Nang gate, there is a naval fortress at Son Tra mountain in Man Quang commune of Dien Phuoc district. The diameter of this station is 9 meters long, 6 meters 3 inches high, including 1 door, 1 flag stage, 17 large gun emplacements. This radio was built in the year Minh Mang 21 (1840), in the 6th year of Thieu Tri (1846), it was rebuilt, until now, it has been abandoned.
With a geographical position "in front of the sea, behind the river", Man Thai meets all the conditions for the development of economy, trade and marine economy. Man Thai has a monsoon climate in the Central Coast region. The weather is divided into two distinct seasons: the dry season from February to August of the year and the rainy season from September to February of the following calendar year; The average annual rainfall is over 2,000 mm, mainly in the rainy season. During the rainy season, there is usually a northeast monsoon, while in the dry season, there is a southwest wind. The average temperature in the year is 28℃, the average humidity is 83%. In the dry season, thanks to the influence of the East Sea, the climate is mild, favorable for swimming and relaxing.
Man Thai, one of Da Nang's oldest coastal communities, has seen a decline in the population of those employed in the maritime industry as a result of urbanization, the opening of major roads, and a focus on tourism on the beach. However, a few people in Man Thai still stick with the profession. Many generations of Man Thai children have never forgotten their roots as a sea-making village. Therefore, mural paintings in the Man Thai ward are implemented in masterpieces and lanes close to Lang Ong area, belonging to group 12 of Man Thai ward, with a length of about 400 meters, an area of more than 1,200 square meters, and a total value of 600 million dong. With the theme "The story of the fishing village", each colorful painting vividly depicts the beauty of culture, daily life, and livelihood of the people along the Son Tra coast, not only beautifying the beauty of the small alley but also the beginning of a community-based tourism model, inviting tourists from all over the world to come and hear about the story of fishing village.
